A Conversation for Scotch Whisky

'genuine Scottish taste'

I remember a taste test performed by David Steel, former leader of the Liberal party, and a great connoisseur of whiskys. He was presented with four unmarked glasses, containing three Scotch single malts, and a high quality "Scottish style" Japanese single malt, and asked to identify which was the Japanese one. You might think that to do so would be quite an impressive feat.

He tasted the first, and without any hesitation correctly identified the distillery *and* the age of the whisky. Suddenly, picking out the Japanese one looked like it wasn't going to be that difficult after all. He repeated the feat with a second glass. He took sip of the third, and practically spat it out. He guessed that that was the Japanese one. He guessed right...

Whisky

The bad thing is that Whisky Blenders rarely ever drink the stuff, they do all the work with their noses, just sniffing them!
