A Conversation for Jet Engines

Part of the new 'bells and whistles included' SubEd system in the new release, I have made you all the authors of the article. I have copied the text out, so there is no point changing anything, it will not be reflected in the entry. Thanks for waiting so long, I've been off for a while, I will type these all up tomorrow before another couple of weeks' absence.
Whoami?
Any questions not for the site, see my page for an email address.

Wow - I get acknowledged as an author, I only contributed a line or so.
BTW The summary now lists turbine jets twice, the second should be scramjets.

Well spotted Mammuthus - it should be scramjets third on the list at the end. I had a conversation somewhere else about sharing credits, because whenever I've written an entry and it's been recommended I've given the subed links to the people I felt contributed in any way to the finished thing. In the case of the centrifugal force entry, I've ended up second on the list of authors! This is because all contributors get listed in order of researcher number. A quick exchange on the subject led to my asking that the list stay as it is, on the grounds that (a) I'd rather contributors, even of only a line or so, get a credit and (b) *I* know I wrote it, and I don't expect other people will try to take credit for my ramblings, especially as we aren't getting paid for this stuff!
A couple of points for Whoami - I wouldn't bother putting a reference to the centrifugal force entry in here myself. It just happened that I got to here from there when writing entries over the space of a few days, and the full list I left here was just meant to be a general plea to leave in whatever links I'd put in the body text. Links to the "Bussard ramjet" and "Rockets and Jets" are relevant, however, but you'll need to link to the edited versions of these, which will have Axxxxxx numbers greater than 590000. I don't know what they are yet 'cos the subeds haven't emerged from the shadows, but I'm sure they will soon.

Well, speaking personally I was very flattered to find myself co-credited. I found out when it popped up as one I'd written on my own space, took me just a few seconds to work out that I hadn't stolen your credit. By the time the piece loaded I'd almost finished mentally composing my abject apology
Many thanks HVL, just because I don't deserve credit it doesn't mean I won't grab it with both hands.... I'm shallow like that
All the best

No probs. This one is part of the set of six I wrote in just a few days, and of the six is the one I feel I contributed least to. I needed it though, for this reason:
If you read the Jets and Rockets entry, it says jets need a medium to work and there's no medium in space. Pedant that I am, I recognise that that's not *quite* true, so I had to write an entry on the Bussard ramjet. But for that to make sense I needed an entry which explained ramjets, and an entry on jets in general seemed the way to go. So this entry was a means to link two others. I didn't actually know much about jets, but I certainly learned a lot writing it, and I think the co-author credits *are* deserved here more than in any of my other entries (at least until they come up with some techy way of saying "author HVL, contributors, Cestus, Mammuthus etc...." )

Any chance of linking from the first mention of the word "jet" to the Edited Entry on "Rockets and Jets", entry A593048?

The Rockets and Jets entry is not yet Edited (soon will be, though) and so we can't link just yet. But, when it does go up, we'll link it back to this entry.
