My course is booked, had my intro workshop yesterday, got the set books on order - any of you 'old hands' at the OU got any advice for me?
Any advice?

Hi Konrad, I'll be doing T171 next year, a 30 point level 1 course. I've been out of the learning loop quite a while and wanted to break myself in gently. I've got this vauge idea of continuing with one of the BSc degrees rather than a named degree, but I'll think about that later, better walk before I try to run!
Any advice?

sorry I'm so long in replying - you must have slipped my conversational net. I notice you've already slipped into OU speak - giving course codes instead of titles! I swear the first thing you learn is the hundreds of course codes so you can converse with other OU students.
Well the OU is pretty good at offering the standard advice - make sure you've a place and time set aside for study, don't leave things to the last minute, read and criticise your own work after it is marked etc. etc.
Personally I've found the following useful (but this is very much a personal learning style thing). Read around the subject; read the course books through without properly studing, as fast as you can to give yourself an overview. I work in the pub...I can chat to ppl if I get bored, and it's a nice atmosphere. Little and often is better than one big sitting. Don't put your coursework off (I always do but it is a pain having catch up).
I mean a lot of advice rather depends on your individual circumstances...are you single, married, kids? that changes how you can study and your timetable.
hope this helps. Any more questions just ask.
Konrad
