Firstly, thank you for an entertaining and frank guide to the limited delights of Goole! I was last there in the Eighties, and actually saw Goole Town play football in what would now be the Unibond League Premier Division, i.e. one step below the Conference. Sounds like both the team and the town has had a bad time since... smiley - bigeyes
I was intrigued by the link to the Columbia Encyclopaedia, and thought it might be able to help me with the Entry I've been working on about my home city, Bradford ( http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/A529436 , in case you're interested). I was amazed to read there that Bradford "...is a center of the worsted industry, which dates from the Middle Ages. Bradford has an important wool exchange..." The bit about being a centre of the worsted industry might have been true 50 years ago, and the wool exchange has long since been converted into a shopping centre. Ah well, I'll just have to finish my Entry and set the record straight! smiley - biggrin

Guess the folks down at Columbia Encyclopedia need to do a bit of research! lol
Great article by the way, should make the editted guide once you finish it.

Thank you! smiley - biggrin
In more recent times, of course, Bradford's main industry has been tourism. There has been an amazing number of TV crews, journalists and police officers coming to visit the old place! smiley - bigeyes
