When in Italy, you can tell the tourists from the locals (if their arrogant attitude doesn't give it away first) by the fact that they're the only ones who will order a cappuccino after 10:30 in the morning.

Does that mean the caterers are not keen on providing the "all day" bacon, eggs, sausage, tomatoes and two slices of fried bread, either?
Whatever happened to "the customer is always right"?
Perhaps Spain isn't so bad after all, provided you can carry your luggage 10 miles or so.

oh the caterer will serve them the cappuccino, but after 1030 italians don't drink anything besides espresso.

Oh dear, I'm an all day cappuccino girl. I'd love to be an espresso drinker too, but I just find it too strong.smiley - sadface

I think we should all be thankful that cappuccino hasn't been adopted by MacDonalds, either before 10:30 or after!

You might be interested to know that there is a lightweight espresso sold in italian coffee bars, known as the 'machiato'. machiato is really a small cappuccino, so espresso size, cappuccino creaminess.
It's a real nice alternative for those who want to drink coffee at espresso speed without the espresso ulcer.. not for me though, I am a thoroughbred espresso-fueled racehorse. neigh! smiley - winkeye

yes, there's also the caffe latte, recently co-opted by starbucks (a chain which will never succeed in itlay), and the latte macchiato, which is mostly warm milk with a bit of coffee. All these are suitable for any time of day.
After dinner, try the caffe corretto, coffee "corrected" with a slosh of grappa.
