A Conversation for The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy

When I registered with h2g2 in April last year, they outlined that works of fiction, or those not applicable to Earth would not be allowed as Guide Entries - "This is the Earth Edition," they said......... I believe that this is still the case. Why, therefore, does the HHGTTG constitute an approved Guide Entry? Make no mistake, I love Douglas's work - but it just occurs to me that this breaches the regulations (?????) - has anyone else spotted this? It would've been fine if the article was about Douglas's best-selling novels..........

Quite agree. Furthermore, to list the Hitch-hiker's Guide to the Galaxy ON the Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy is a blatant example of self-reference. For further discourse on this type of syntactical faux-pas see Forum postings on Epimenides, Hofstader, Godel-Escher-Bach etc.
By the way, HITCH HIKERS GUIDE TO THE GALAXY is an anagram of

It's a scam! DNA probably has writer's block, and is looking for ideas. So, he thinks, maybe he can nick one
of ours?
On the other hand, I checked out the towel conversation, and it's very entertaining, so perhaps this is an outlet
for all the researchers with overactive imaginations, who hate that ubiquitous advice to would-be writers, "Write
what you know." Nobody in that conversation really knows what he is talking about, but it still seems to make
some sort of sense....
Key: Complain about this post
