• If 'The Smoke' is not exactly the easiest place in the world for you to get to, why not consider the Flat Cap and Muffler Club Spring Outing... otherwise known as the Great Northern Meet. It is for anyone interested in beer or coffee and a few laughs... whippets and black puddings optional! The Meet will be held on the 4th August at the Trafford Centre, Manchester; there's bowling, drinking and all sorts of food available.

  So far 17 h2g2ers are signed up for this meet and are busy brushing up their thee's and tha's for the occasion. There is a strong rumour that itallics may be in attendance, along with the h2g2 Virtual President.

The Community Soapbox has been highlighted for the past few weeks in this column, but did you know about the Talk page and specifically Abi's new section: Abi's Community Activities? Here you can found a list of all sorts of fun places to visit and also have the opportunity of advertising your own endeavours. The h2g2 Musicians Guild is the place to go if you are a musician or a music lover. A wonderful site to visit with the opportunity to join in on many and various collaborative efforts.

The Post is currently thinking of starting a few old favourites again, namely the Take5 item, which reviews the best of the accepted entries for the week, and the 1-2-1 column which pokes its nose into other researchers affairs. The BOF Inn is currently under some sort of bomb threat. This once quiet, almost comotose centre for the boring old f**ts of h2g2 has woken from its sleepy trance and is possibly even slightly active! A visit may well be in order before it disappears in a puff of smoke.
