h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

A friend of mine couldn´t keep her rat anymore so she gave it to me. Unfortunatly she haven´t payed much attention to it, so he isn´t very tame. I was wondering if anyone had any tips on how to get him a little more tame. I would like to let him out of his cage so hi can run around a bit, but it´s practically impossible to catch him again

i had rats for 3 years and they were very tame. you have to be patient. if you let them out their little house. give them time to discover their surroundings as they are very short sighted. give them treats to encourage them to get used to you. they love boiled eggs, especially the yolks. treat them like little dogs, play fetch, stroke them. let them get used to your voice and scent. in doing this they will make fabulous little pets and comical little companions.
