A Conversation for Tips on Moving House

My Suggestion? Don't.

But if you absolutely *must* move, my next suggestion would be to have a HUGE yard sale first, and get rid of all that stuff you didn't even know you had. This accomplishes three things all at once...you get rid of junk, make some money, and get a jump on the packing! And you know that anything you don't sell, you can simply pack up and take to the local Goodwill/ Salvation Army place.

And then you pack the rest of your stuff, the stuff you can't live without and must take with you. Pack it up neatly, carefully, with some organization in mind. And remember to label the boxes!

When you get to your new place, put boxes near where their contents will end up. Don't put the bathroom items in the living room, or the bedroom furniture in the kitchen. Take the time to unpack as carefully as you packed.

And remember to save some money for pizza both the night before the move, and the first night in your new place. And always pack the paper plates last!

My Suggestion? Don't.

I have a friend that said "move" is a four letter word ... smiley - tongueout

I swing back and forth on using professional movers and friends. When I use the professionals, I swear I won't do it again because of the cost. When using family/friends I swear I won't do it again because of the resentment. So I just won't move again! Unless it's *me* in the box! smiley - winkeye
