Where are the vowels?

Does anyone know why there never seem to be any vowels on the lids for Smarties? Are they reserved for competitions, deliberately rare or am I just unlucky?

Yep, I was just unlucky. My last four packs, three of them were vowels which brings the ratio back to where I would expect it to be. The vanishing vowell mystery has been solved
