Rhymes better than 'on'. And that's how I remember it from my (Church of Ireland) primary school. Though it was in the middle of town, it had a country feel, because most of the kids were farmers. Protestants own land, you know. Still.
I don't remember what came after that, but it wasn't what's in the Entry. Diamond, I recall, involved crossing over the two bands and standing with your ankles holding them in shape:

And then jumping up, releasing the bands which flew back to straight, and landing as for scales.
And then there was Over the Hill, and Gun, but I can't remember what the actions were.
Happy memories. Yes, it was mainly a girls' game, but enough boys joined in for us not to be laughed at.
