A Conversation for Night-time Leg Cramps

Leg cramps

I think more people have fidgety legs than leg cramps. Quinine definitely works but I can't have it because I take Warfarin. One thing that might help is to get out of bed and stand a couple of feet from the wall then place your arms on the wall and do stretches. Of course you really are wide away by now so you may as well go clean the kitchen, bake a cake or some other useful thing until you are really tired again. My right leg moves involuntarily from the hip and I once tried jamming it between the wall and the bed. Can you believe it?smiley - erm

I know it is unfashionable now but 'lack of salt' seems to be the cause with me. OK I have lived in tropical, sub-tropical and damnably hot climates for too long but if I don't have sufficient salt, especially if I have been outside rather too much during the day cramp is a certainty at night. Yes, straightening the leg/foot whatever hepls but then a teaspoon of salt in water (disgusting) cures the problem and the rest of the night is peaceful.
