This medium sized city located in the North East part of Oklahoma (AKA: Green Country), is home to aprox. 400k people.
Points of Interest:
Tulsa was the site of the United States' largest race riot. This riot, started over a black man tripping and knocking down a white female elevator operator, culminated in the burning down of the northern (black) part of Tulsa, with over 300 homes and business destroyed.
Tulsa is also home to several large companys, including Williams, American Airlines, and TV Guide.
Tulsa is also known for it's flood control measures, which have resulted in awe inspiring damns, and wonderful lakes nestled in the green rolling hills of this central US city.
Resturants:
Tulsa is large enough to have a good mix of resturants, and small enough not to have ENOUGH resturants. Expect multi-hour waits on Friday and Saturday nights at the larger resturants between 6pm and 8pm.
Sports and Rec:
Tulsa is home to an expansion team for the Texas Rangers. It also has a good amount of motor sport facility, including a drag strip, a high speed cart track and is only 25 miles East of Hallet motor speed way, an excellent road course.
The local Native American tribes also run Bingo and limited casino style gambling. Although not as free wheeling as Las Vegas, you can still have a good time at these places.
Tulsa recently got an IMAX movie theater, which also shows regular flicks on it's super huge screen. (You havn't seen The Matrix, until you've seen it on an IMAX screen!)
Tulsa also has an excellent river side park.
Access:
Tulsa has several main highways as well as an International Airport. Tulsa International is considered a 2nd tier city airport, which means most destinations are going to require a plane change. The city layout is a hierarchical grid, with E/W streets being numbered and N/S streets being lettered. This makes it easy to find your way around the city.
