The correct, original Murphy's Law reads: "If there are two or more ways to do something, and one of those ways can result in a catastrophe, then someone will do it." What you are referring to is "Finagle's Law", which is different.

I'd have thought that if it was the hash then the law would say 'If something can go wrong it will go wrong but, hey, it doesn't really matter, relax!'

I thought for making Murphy Slaw, one used equal amounts of chopped cabbage and Murphy.

In view of that I think it best not to ask how to prepare O'Toole Slaw.

Murphy slaw is made up of equal parts potato and cabbage.
