One of the people trying to solve the problem believed that Kit Williams was not the author's real name.
He somehow got the idea that the answer was in an anagram of part of the book and that, since "Kit Williams" is an anagram for "I will mask it", Williams must not have been the author's name...
Of course, he was wrong...WAY wrong...
