I am studying biba at present on a BA Textiles degree and am looking for visual information regarding this subject and the hippy era for a design brief called hippy patch. If anyone can help I would be pleased to hear from you! Photos, fabric scraps, magazines, patterns old wallpaper remnants I would be happy to return them if required, or even purchase them if they are reasonable cheap, although donationtions of items would be better, or send an attachment of item in picture form via internet. It might be possible to dig up some old shoes, perhaps a scarf or two, a lampshade etc etc. If you send me an email address via [email protected] I'll send you photos in a week or two.

In the meantime, I might dispute your association of Biba with "Hippy". They weren't the same thing at all. Biba was not expensive, but not cheap, certainly not cheap enough for Hippies, who might have bought stuff at Kensington Market nearby (And that's a big 'might') As I tried to explain, Biba was very much a total 'look', a style of its own and the company was there to make money, no other reason. A modern-day 'Hippy' might buy Biba in a jumble sale, and like it very much, but back then a 'Hippy' would have seen Biba as part of the problem, not the answer.
