Bran Buds? They sound like Bran Buds, or something very similar. Small, hard, brown, round and about the size of rabbit droppings?
If they are, then I like them! But I wouldn't want to eat them dry.

I know which cereal you mean, but no, they're not alike. Grape-Nuts are best described as looking a bit like brown gravel or cat litter. And they're very very very crunchy.
