I'm interested in this, but I'm not sure I understand the rules.
I pile the stuff up, wait until the checkout operator is nearly at the end, go off "to get cat food", come back again. How do I win?

This is a new game on me but it sounded like it would reduce the monotomy of shopping so I gave it a whirl. I only lasted about one minute, but, upon return to the till I suceeded in holding some checkout chatter!
I don't think that it matters when you wander off. However in order to compare you performance I suggest waiting until the operator swipes the first of your purchases before starting the clock. You will only be able to compare performance with fellow competitors who have a similar quantity of goods.
My hypothesis predicts that if all of your goods have been swiped by the time you return, you will stand less chance of acheiving any checkout chatter. I suggest only playing one supermarket game at a time!

I live in a country where it is highly likely that there is a law against this game. So I'll desist. But I prefer checkout chicken anyway.
