In the mid 90's I worked with a man, Newton, who is Emily Firmin's cousin. Then, two jobs later, I found I was working at the same college as Emily's sister Hannah. Newton and Hannah hadn't seen each other for years, and didn't know that they lived less than a dozen miles apart. Or so said Hannah.

I understand Emily herself runs an arts or crafts shop somewhere in the south-west of England. I wander whether she suffers from being pestered at all - or takes the greatest advantage of the association? It would certainly appear she shunned the link with the programme while she was growing up.

She appeared on The Priory (UK, Channel 4) with Zoe Ball a few years ago. She seems to be much more accepting of her role as a cult figure now.
