Does it still exist? (Pipe Hayes Park, I mean.) My parents, neither of whom was a Brummy, tried hard but somewhat unsuccessfully to stop us kids from picking up the accent. That particular Brummagemism was the admonition that my mother and grandmother used whenever they caught us slipping into the vernacular.

It still exists, and I'm glad to hear that you have a Brummie accent. You should be proud of it, and your parents should be ashamed of themselves. Check out some research I've done into Brummie on www.askoxford.com
