Perlan (and Kuwait city...!)

You're right - Perlan is well worth a visit, and great to look at.
The domed roof picks up all kinds of subtle colours from the sky, making it, well, pearly.

But to my mind, the neat thing about it is that it is actually a set of water storage tanks.
There are few place where you would see a 'utility' building of such beauty and with such versatility
(inside there's a smart restaurant, a more casual cafe, space for trade shows and exhibitions, indoor and
outdoor viewing galleries with great views over the surrounding area, and so on...).

The reason I mention Kuwait City is that there is a set of water towers there, on the seafront,
which are as spectacular in their own way, but with rather more emphasis on the vertical...!

Hope this helps -
