A Conversation for What is God?
If you are an atheist in life, and when you die god turns out to be real, would you go to hell?
Alfster Posted Jan 16, 2006
Nerd, old man, that is one of the funniest things have read all year and possibly will be the funniest thing for the rest of the year.
Yeah, those GAY Christians are the ONLY Christians who would ever selectively manipulate scripture...no other Christian would dare do that would they?...

Ste Posted Jan 16, 2006
"If your definition of "Christian" means an actual follower of Christ, then in my opinion, "gay christians" would not be included."
Christ's main message was one of love. Gay people love each other. What evidence is there of Jesus being anti-gay? (sincere question).

No I didn't say that gay christians were the only people to selectively manipulate scripture. Lots of people do that and I would consider some/many of them Christians. I hope I didn't create the impression that that was the reason I was disincluding open homosexuals in my definition of Christianity.

Not so, Alfster... I am afraid it takes a lot of very creative interpretation to get around the plain condemnation of homosexuality in Scripture, in the OT and the NT. God doesn't approve of homosexual practice any more than God approves of theft, lying, adultery, fornication and similar.
Nostradamnonsense has nothing to do with it.

Er, I'd say 'gay people have sex with each other'. Maybe I've been unfortunate in the gay people I've met, but it seems that, judging by them, gay people are uniformly fickle and promiscuous. (As are some straight people too, I acknowledge.)

"God doesn't approve of homosexual practice any more than God approves of theft, lying, adultery, fornication and similar."
Then why are the others all forbidden in the ten commandements (8,3&9,7,7), but this is not addressed? I thought the 10 commandments were the fundamental laws christianity based itself on (apart from loving thy neighbour), if this is such an important issue why is it not addressed?

People are promiscuous. People love each other. People are fickle. Gay or straight. Denying that gay people can or do love each other is a disgusting smear and plain ol' wrong.

Della
Della's stock phrase to start a senetnce that will end in her insulting gays.
There we go.
So, being fickle and promiscuous means you can not love someone? By that judgement a married heterosexual couple who were into swinging and who have had a long line of other boy/girlfriends would not love each other they would just be having sex.
i.e. do not love one another. This certainly reinforces the the ieda that you know absolutely nothing about human interactions and feelings. It may have gone under your radar but around the world gay people are rushing to get married now that various governments have stopped pandering to the religious pressure groups.
Is this a subtle way of saying gays cannot considered to be human as love is a fundamental part of being human?
Now, what we should do is yikes your post as it will no doubt be seen as a highly offensive slur by gay people who read it. But it will remain to show to all what you really think.

Just stating a fact.
For the record, that was a response to some particularly nasty homophobic comments by Nerd42.
I'm kind of surprised to see it gone...

I saw it before it went, and wasn't the one who caused it to be hidden. But never mind - I'm sure the same charming thoughts will be shared with us all again somewhere on this site.

The wording of the comment hiding the Nerds post does not look like the one that is put up when some one yikses a entry.
Whether the mods hide it themselves I do not know.
It is one of the frustrating things that we will now not know what Nerd said.
But this will get into normal topic drift about how things should be yikesed and hidden.

LOL this is ABSURD.
I have put up with so much CRAP on this site directed at Christians and then one day I post something about how I don't like gays and WHAMMO my post AND my personal space gets hidden.
Ladies and gentlemen, agree or disagree with me as you like but for the record this is censorship.

No, it is the moderation process that YOU signed up to follow when you started using the site.
If you believe anything anyone has said has contravened the house rules then use the yikes button and see what the moderators say.
It might depend on HOW you said it. Personally, if you just said you do not like gays fine that is your opinion - that should be left up there to show what a homophobe you are. If you then went on to spout WHY you hate them and those reason are quite demonstrateably BS then yuo will most likely get moderated.
As I wrote above. It is the moderation process.

LOL? You think it's funny?
I have no idea what you wrote in the post that ended up being removed. Nor what you had in your PS introduction. Except that it must have been something that contravened the House Rules.
Thing is, a lot more people lurk on threads than we probably realise. So whoever complained about your post and PS was not necessarily anyone taking part in the discussion on this thread.
In any case, Nerd, I am personally quite tired of you and your childish diatribes. People here have tried being polite and informative, treating you as someone who actually wishes to debate. But in the end you alienated everyone on this thread with your rude behaviour.
The ultimate 'censorship' you have brought upon yourself. Which is that from now on most people seeing you participating on a thread will either totally ignore you or else unsubscribe.

I don't care about the yiksed post. That happens sometimes, I've yiksed other people's posts before, I'm cool with that.
But why my Personal Space has been hidden has not yet been explained. The email says it "contravenes the House Rules" without saying how or which ones. Because of that I am at a loss as to how I can fix the problem since I don't know which part of it is offensive. I know the House Rules pretty well and I honestly have no idea why/how my personal space contravenes them, especially because my space doesn't talk about any political/moral/religious issues at all. So, unless I can have explained to me exactly what I need to change in order to comply with the House Rules, I can really only see two possibilities here:
A. Someone's made an honest mistake - either me (in not realizing that I have contravened a rule) or a moderator.
or
B. The system is being abused by someone who is being intolerant towards people who dislike homosexuals and think homosexuality is morally wrong to the extent that they are bothering/blocking them in completely unrelated ways.
