A Conversation for Training Your Pet
Cichlids and Koi

Koi are dumb but greedy, so it is fairly easy to train them to eat from your hand. Leave them unfed for a week before you try this. Then come and feed them 1/2 of what they will eat in a specific spot at the same time of day. Gradually feed more, closer to where you are.
The more trusting you make your Koi, the more you will need to watch out for predators that might find them tasty.
Cichlids are very smart, for fish. I have heard tell of them trained to jump a stick at a CalTech biology lab, and have seen them do some amazing learned behaviors from their owners.
