A Conversation for Torture
Power

A thoughtful, sobering Entry, and one that confirms one of my most strongly-held beliefs: namely, that power is the root of all evil. As I've made my way through life I've had that lesson re-affirmed again and again, from bullies in the school playground to arrogant, uncaring bosses at work.
It was a great idea to include the "What can be done?" section at the end of the Entry. Without it, the whole thing might have been just too depressing. I've signed Amnesty International's petition and added a link to it from my homepage. Which doesn't really add up to much, I know, but at least it's SOMETHING.

Good onya! It can't be stressed enough how important it is to speak out against whatever nastiness is going on. Don't ever let the big wheels think you don't care! Don't ever let them convince themselves that the nastiness they do doesn't matter!

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
