The Acrostic Poem

1 Conversation

I was challenged by B'Elana to write an acrostic poem for The Post, and I challenged her to take the current telegram game word.

Birthday

Back in the days when I was small,
I'd write to my relatives, one and all,
Remarking how excited I were,
That soon my birthday would occur,
Having given all a gentle prod,
Detailing my wants with a wink and a nod,
As I waited for the day anointed,
You bet - I was always disappointed!

Birthday: Time

Befitting such an auspicious day,
I feel there's something I should say,
Remember, as each year goes by,
Time doesn't pass, it starts to fly.
How it was that, when I was young,
Days and weeks appeared so long,
AND now I'm old and turning sour,
Years barely seem to last an hour.

Birth Day

Born under the sign of the Widecombe Arms,
In the back of a Ford pickup truck,
Required brute strength, not doctoring skills,
To get the thing's head right way up.
However, there happened to be at the bar,
Down from their farms on the moor,
A couple of yokels a quenching their thirst,
Yanking babies out wasn't no chore!
