smiley - cool Great article and quite enviable. The closest I've been to a 303 was in a shop... though I had a DX7 for a while. Now I've got a pants Yamaha QY20, and a Korg piano (which I got for £25, mind).

I also have a recording, complete with reverb and delay, of what someone says when they spill hot chocolate over an MC-202... smiley - rofl

Oh, here is a video of how things can go wrong with synths... at about 1:30 the troubles begin for Jean Michel Jarre at a concert. Fun!

Great article, EXCEPT for the awful headings "Ghastly", "Make it stop", and "Can I go home now".

Presume most people reading the article actually LIKE the sounds synths make, especially the older and rawer sounds (ie, more Kraftwerk and Yazoo, less Madonna and Yazz).

With mostly analogue machines mentioned, would guess this is the author's point of view also, unless the author wrote all of these reviews about a subject he doesn't enjoy?

I collect these machines in London and now have a Korg MS2000, a Roland Juno-60, a Roland TB-303, TR-808, 909, TR-77, Acetone-(Bentley) Rhythm Ace, and must say, I prefer all of these to the digital boxes!

But last line of the article notwithstanding, I'd still recommend a nice Mac instead of a CMI or Fairlight! smiley - smiley

The H2G2 Editors

Thanks for your input Jamesea. It's a broad church on h2g2, but we're imagining that these titles were done with tongue firmly in cheek, with no offence meant. anachromaticeye may like to explain further. And welcome to h2g2!
