wow a very wise refreshing read. I so often see parents shouting at, and treatng thier children like they are annoyances, children learn about themselves from the way they are treated, I always try to treat my daughter (7) like she is the most wonderful person i have ever met, I want her to grow believing in herself. that last comment was very powerful

Sorry I didn't get back to you earlier. I have been enjoying the company of my adult sons since mid-July. I bought hope chests for the elder (to store his tools in. He's getting married next year) and a new hockey helmet and kickers for the younger, Even long after they've graduated..... They share a house at present and I also bought a new loo seat. I hope this gives you some idea that even though they're well past 18, some of the rules still apply - like the hugs. I hope you have even half as much fun with yours.
