Thanx so much for this. I have just printed out The Tay Bridge Disaster to stick on my notice board
"And the cry rang out all o'er the town
Good Heavens! The Tay Bridge is blown down"
The wonderful thing about his poems is that however carefully you read them they don't scan. I hope he didn't suffer too much, but rather think he must have.
Thank you

Yes. What a wonderful fellow! I must check out the Appreciation Society right away.
You know, a sense of humor is exactly what poetry need. I can't imagine this will hurt any.
Thank you

Sorry to post again so soon. I've been to the Appreciation Society and back, and I must say I've had a good chuckle.
It seems to me the attempt at a Bulwer-Lytton-like contest should be resurrected at this time. After all, we all have seen anecdotal evidence that the capability for poor writing has gone up exponentially since the advent of the internet.
Thank you

One of the maddest books I ever read was George Gershwin Meets William Topaz McGonagal by Spike Milligan and some other bloke that I can't remember the name of now.
Thank you

Geez! This poetry really is awful! Almost as bad as teeny-bopper poety! (You know, the sort that goes: I love jason because his teeth are so white, so white are his teeth, I want to go out with him this very night, if I don't, my life will be blight, nothing will ever be right, I love him so quite... etc.) It's enough to make a Vogon squemish! (And for some reason they all want me to read it and tell them what I think...)
Thank goodness that bad poetry isn't an entirely recent phenomenon... wait, IS that a good thing???
Thank you

I never realised it was actually this bad. It sounds like something from a Monty Python sketch. Excellent.
Key: Complain about this post
Thank you
