How Big Is It?

The New Forest is "vast," I can see. But how vast is it? Some measurement in square kilometers or miles would be very useful to silly American tourists like myself. How long would it take to walk across it, or is it folly to even try? I'm just curious.

Your talking about 120/140 square miles I believe, it's shaped something like an elongated triangle, the apex is just short of Salisbury, the base streches from Bournemouth to the east side of Southampton. get out and walk less than 1/2 mile from any car park and you'll lose the "Grockels" and get back to nature! it's just a beautiful area.

It would take a couple of days at least to walk across it. So it isn't vast compared to American national parks... or even compared to similar areas in Wales or Scotland... but it's big for the south of England.
