The sale af Boddies to 'The Ogre!' also led to the demise of two more brews. Boddington Mild, and the winter brew, Boddington Old....
Both sadly missed!

Long, long ago. . . .
it was my 18th birthday and we sneaked of from school at lunch time for my first legal pint of Boddies at "The Smut Inn", in Oldham. It was very fine. It was hard to get Boddies in that area back then but Boddington's later bought out Oldham Brewery and it became easier to get, (but as far as I know "OB" vanished altogether in the end).

The pint cost 30p, I remember we were sad when it went up to 35p and you could no longer get 3 pints for a £1!

I no longer live in Manchester but enjoy getting back up there when ever I can, because although I can get Boddies down here (in South Wales), the price is much less better up there, and there are many other jolly local beers to try, often even cheaper.
