I wasn't sure where to post this: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/middle_east/8253465.stm but I wanted to share it with you.
What that family has gone through doesn't bear thinking about

Thanks GB.
I collected a few similar stories when I was researching Famous Air Crash Victims. I'll add it to the list and may complete a fifth entry in the series one day.
Is there a definitive list of people who have died in space exploration? It might make an interesting entry.

It's not something I could do, I don't think.
Possibly http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Space_accidents_and_incidents would give you some names; such research and dates/years are the best thing about W*k*

And what a good job you made of it too
Is this a complete list? Did they lose any on Gemini or Mercury missions?

Thank you
It's a complete list, and I included one (I hesitate to say "dead cert") man who would have been on a future shuttle - Elliot See and Charles Bassett were supposed to be the Gemini IX-A crew but they were killed in a jet crash on their way for simulator training. I can include these men

Yes, I'd include those two for completeness, even if it's in a footnote. Flying everywhere is a bit of an occupational hazard for astronauts.

I've added them
I have just been reading about the Nedelin catastrophe in the Soviet Union in October 1960 where over a hundred people died, although it was kept secret until April 1989. I won't add it here as it belongs in a possible future h2g2 entry.
