Great entry about a great writer. No doubt 1984 and Animal Farm are among the best books ever written.
As for the topic "Orwell and 'Englishness'" there are "Keep the Aspidistra flying" and "Clergyman's daughter". These books can show foreigners (like me) what 'Englishness' is (was) all about.

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
