What did you buy? I went to the Royal at Stoneleigh last year and enjoyed it so much that I made my first visit to the Lincs show this year. The heavens opened, so that it was better to go barefoot than in the sensible shoes.Bought two golf-type umbrellas, cufflinks and ear-rings, a soppy tie, lavender bags and pickles, and a case of German wine (thought I'd better show willing after the third glass)

I go to the Royal Welsh every year, and any other shows that I can manage. Usually a bit of family discord before we start - "You're not wearing THAT T-shirt" - "Those boots need a good clean" etc etc.

Anyway, last year I bought some very small binoculars, a couple of crates of wine(this gets delivered as it doesn't fit in your haversack), some stuff that keeps the windscreen of your car clean, lots of fudge, and some stuff that you mix with vinegar to make a herby dip. The latter is still in its unopened bag at the back of the cupboard with some similar stuff from the previous year. (And some stuff from the year before that.)

However, I had a free pasty, lots of free wine at several different wine sellers, and lots of stuff that looked like cat vomit but tasted of whisky. It's the freebies that make it for me!

I usually also get a silly T-shirt, which will not be worn until the next Royal Welsh Show.
Altogether now - "You're not wearing THAT T-shirt"...

That herby stuff never tastes as good at home as it does out in the open does it? I bought some at the Royal and threw it out when I went home in June (a year later) I also bought some of that whisky tasting stuff and a heavily ginger-based drink there which I was going to give to people as Christmas presents (and didn't) Didn't see any good T shirts, but it was very difficult to see anything in the monsoon that was the Lincs.
