A Conversation for Toasted Sandwiches

Toasted sandwiches

In Oz we used to use a Jaffle Iron for toasted sandwich production. The early ones were round and you could trim the edges of the bread as it was clamped between the two cast iron discs and placed on the stove hotplate, or even in a campfire. Extended it looked like a heavy metal bra! Skilfully used it could produce a blazing hot discus with the bread outer and inner core of ingredients. Like the Earth the cool exterior could be a trap for those unaware of the molten lava inside. The square device, which fully contained the bread, was not quite as efficient and lacked the distinctive rings produced in the bread by the round version.
