The self
is a difficult subject to discuss.
What do we really know about anyone. Especially ourselves.

The foggiest depths of self identity are clouded by self deprecation and self loathing
or distorted by self delusion, self agrandising and self love.

And for all that,
we still awake each morning to find that the goal posts have moved in the night,
and over time, we become someone other than who we thought we might be.

Sometimes
it is easier to observe this phenomenon in others and then try to work backwards to an
understanding of ourselves. This became clear to me when I read this week's featured entry:

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
