A Conversation for Ideas for Small Herb Gardens
One square foot?

How do you keep them to just one square foot? Perhaps you are growing polite, well-mannered English herbs. I'm growing rough and tumble western US herbs, and I haven't been able to keep them from duking it out over the available space. I've had to move one of them to the front yard, where it is making a hedge of itself. As for the rest of them, I "prune" them with a shovel, digging up huge clumps of them, roots and all. Some of these clumps I dump into shopping bags and give to unsuspecting friends for their gardens.
The rosemary is demanding internet access and its own blog.
