A Conversation for How to Make a Hole-in-one

I make these all the time, around here (MN, USA) it is called a hole in the wall. But I put the toast down first on a lightly buttered pan, then I put another dallap of butter into the hole, and then crack the egg right into the hole. I always save the hole part of the bread and toast it along side the toast. Then I give it a flip for about 10 seconds (I like it runny) then I flip it back and immediatly put a piece of cheese on top, and put the hole back on the cheese. It creats a wonderful presentation.

Yeah, I crack the egg into the hole too. Must try that cheese thing sometime.

Very thinly sliced ham works very well there also. Thinly sliced for two reasons: it heats easier, and it cuts easy so you can still enjoy the whole meal with a fork.

We used a cookie cutter to make the hole, and cracked the egg into the hole. Never even occurred to me to put cheese on it though, I wonder why not. I'll definitely have to try it - I haven't made one of these in years!

Yesterday I made a sandwich of cheese and tomato using two of these as bread (and I also use a cookie cutter.) It was very nice.
