at last a topic i know something about. although i am a baptised into this great and glorious church i have issues . rather then bore the current missionaries I now have a forum in which to air them... first the priesthood which is oddly only given to the men. second the five year plan and the 72 hour emergency kits. If president Hinkley knows that something is about to kick off is it only for the chosen to be prepared,I look a fool but i'm making it obvious to ANYONE that I am growing vegetables in my back garden. then theres the different grades of heaven... frankly I thought the saviour gave 2 options, with or without HIM as the great bono vox would have said had he been posting to this convesation...

You would be better off talking with the missionaries again.
If as you say you have been baptised and are a member of the LDS Church your questions about the Telestial, Terrestial & Celestial Kingdom should have been covered in the six discussion that you usually have prior to being baptized.
Basivally through Jesus everyone except the Sons of Perdition (ie your Hitlers, Pol Pots.. I am not the judge to tell you who exactly), is resurrected and gains immortality (ie is saved).
An agnostic or aethiestist may lead a good life, but without faithfully following Christ and taking upon him His name. It would hardly be fair and just for such a person to share the fate of the really evil people, but also it would be unjust for him to have the same rewards as someone who made great scarifices, diligently lived all the commandements and went to Church every Sunday to worship God. So we gain an inheritence according to the level of the law we live in this life.
Why is it odd that the piresthood is given to men? Women are given the far greater calling of being mothers.(It has been said that the priesthood is given to men to make up what they lack compared to women).
As for President Hinkley counselling about preparedness, his message goes out to absolutely ANYONE who is ready to hear it. He preaches it constantly, and talks about it at Conferences, which members and non-members alike are invited to attend. He has even written a book that was a best seller and available in bookshops around America (and Amazon.com) where he gives the same message. He has also been on Larry King Live more than once, and other Network TV.
It is ceratinly not the chosen few are given the counsel, and it is not for want of trying to get the message to people.

this absolute obsession with women and babies is frankly foolish. Some people get to have kids some don't,some want 'em some can't stand 'em. And fathers get a much better deal anyway as long as the family stays together. Babies involve a lot of pain, and result in a good few years of stress tiredness and minor things like varicose veins, stretchmarks, up to major things like post natal depression or even pyschosis. There always moments of joy and pride but these are also part and parcel of a fathers life... if women can handle work and homelife they can obviously handle priesthood duties. I have much more to say on this and about the old Jewish idea of women being unclean..but thats enought for now.

Well I'm pleased I managed to answer the rest of your questions satisfactorily!!!!
Clearly if you are a baptized member of this church you are not converted as you do not accept much of its basic tenant, and are rather quick to consider its, and other ideas contray to your own as foolish. You are entitled to your own opinions, but I will still listen to what the prophet says on such matters. It tends to bring peace and happiness when you live in accordance with the gospel, rather than the agitation you seem to feel.
Women who handle work and homelife, out of choice rather than necessity, are putting themselves before the nurturing of their own children. Yes, such women who are so well oragsnised and intelligent could handle the "responsibilities" of the priesthood, but unfortunately would not understand it very well.

You are so funny!!!! Please stop before I die laughing. I was wondering why you hadn't given yourself a name but now i know, cos you are a coward as well as someone who hasn't got the faintest idea about the teachings of your own church.....you walked quite neatly into it too. I do hope you aren't going out on mission soon because you reaaly need to think deeply about the way you are going to present the gospel especially to anyone who is more intelligent then you..hey you need to listen to president hinkley some but you so need to go back and take a walk with the saviour too.

Glad, I make you laugh. However I am neither a coward nor stupid. My name is Darrin. I have not given myself a "posting" name because It is of little consequence. I joined the Church aged 26, 11 years ago, which makes me a little old to go on a mission. I am now married with two childen, and I know agreat deal about the doctrine of the Church which I teach regularly in lessons.
I go to Church each Sunday, study the scriptures and pray. Where do you get your intimate and exhaustive knowledge of the Church from?
Clearly you find joy in insulting people and lying to and about them. tempting as it is I will not get into trading insults with you .

Hey nobody has lied here and trading insults is kind of the thing to do on h2. I think you have been a bit insulting yourself too, don't you?? so lets close the conversation shall we because I guess you don't like people tp disagree with you whereas I think that is one of our most precious god given freedoms. take care.

Trading insults is NOT the kind of thing to do as a Latter-day Saint. If you have not lied about being a member then that is something you should already know.
I apologise if I have insulted you.
I have no problem whatsover with people disagreeing with me, but when someone is disparaging about it and calls the doctrine you know to be true foolish, of course I will defend it.
You are absolutely right God gave us our agency and freedom of thought, but he also gave us scriptures and the power of prayer. Take your questions to Heavenly Father if you sincerely want answers.
Best wishes to you

Well, looks like someone's been praying!
Elder Garcia from Texas moved to our Ward Last week and I met him on Sunday. Nice Guy. He said he would give you a call.
Miracles do happen. The Church is true! You may not necessarily like some of the principles at first, but it doesn't stop them being true. It is better to subject our will to God's, than kick against it.
All the best
