h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

Once a fortune cookie tidbit of wisdom applied to me and accurately foretold the future.
The Backstory:
I had just been hospitalized, my father was about to get his legs amputated due to prior medical complications, and my car was the victim of a hit-and-run accident.
The Fortune:
While dining out with my mother at the China King Restaurant I received this fortune in my cookie: Everything is not yet lost.
The Outcome:
There were witnesses to the hit-and-run. My medical bills were paid with the insurance payment. There was no major damage to my car. My father's doctors tried a experimental surgical procedure and saved his legs.
Coincidence?
To this day, I keep that fortune in my wallet. I'm not superstitious, but you never know...
