In the U.S.A at least, menus are pretty common. They're often order-form style; you're expected to check off the dishes you want (with numbers where applicable). Prices are included, although it's impossible to tell what the serving size is, and it's up to the customer to try to remember the difference between "scallion crepe" and "leek pancake."

Dim sum menus, like many of the better Chinese restaraunt menus in America, often include a section of dishes listed only in Chinese. Your waiters may believe that non-Chinese don't eat those dishes. Order them anyway. Don't ask what they are until you've finished. Don't blame me if you don't like them; you could learn Chinese if you're that concerned.
