Street performers are a pernicious if amusing obstacle in London, particularly Leicester Sq. It's the crowds who watch them that get in the way, and if you try to circumvent them you often risk being incorporated into their act!

Also there all the shops in the City of Westminister ie the West End will leave their rubbish out on the pavements at night as the city cleansing department will be around to clear it up.
Be warned you may hear a noise from inside such a pile usually coming from an occasional drunk.
