A Conversation for The Pavements of London

My wife and I visited London for the first time last summer, and greatly enjoyed it. With the Tube and the "pavement" (we call them "sidewalks"), we greatly enjoyed exploring the city. The "subways" (under-street pedestrian walkways for you other Yanks - not underground trains, that's the "Underground" or Tube) made even the widest streets and intersections reasonably safe for pedestrians.
We live in Houston, Texas, which is very much a suburban place - very few souls are walking in the central part of the city after the offices close, although with a new downtown baseball park and condos that may change. We do have an underground pedestrian tunnel system, but as much to avoid the heat and humidity as the traffic.
So London was a great adventure - we are planning to return soon. You'll have to do a whole lot worse on the pavements to keep American tourists out
