A Conversation for Locost Cars

It is possible to race your Locost, if you have the balls and the budget.
The 750 Motor Club has set up a series for this wonderful machine, and true to the tradition of the 750MC and the car, it is designed to keep the cost down. The car specifications have been tied down in such a way that most of us will be driving the exact same car, even though we have all built them ourselves. It utilisies the Ford 1300 X-flow, but that is plenty of power for guys like me who have never raced before. For the true petrol heads, there is nothing stopping you from shoving in a bigger engine and racing in some of the kit-car classes, but look after you wallets if you do.
In it's second "test" year, with rumours of a sponsored championship available for 2001 onwards, what better way to break into motorsport? The numbers of interested people keeps mounting, and you also get to visit some of the famous circuits in the country like Brands Hatch and Silverstone.
So, if you have a couple of quid, and think you would like to go head to head with other Locost owners, get out your socket set, and maybe I'll see you on the track in 2001 when I hope to be ready to!

Got it accepted I see, good job. Sounds like you'll have your hands busy racing next year. How far from completion is the car?

Same as everyone elses, not complete enough
Truth be told I am still early on, and have just finished dismantling the donor MKII Escort. Soon as I can scrape together the funds, I'll be buying my chassis from a reputed manufacturer who has sprung up in the wake of this revolution, and it will be all go from there.
The beauty of the Locost is the simple fact that you do not but a "kit" for a lump sum. You spend your money when you have it, and build the car when you can.
