A Conversation for How to Make a Milkshake
US v UK pints

D'oh, not enough milk in the fridge to make one!
Just to help with the measurements this side of the pond.
A pint in the UK is 20 fluid ounces
At school when the world was still in black and white we were taught "A pint of water weighs a pound and a quarter"
A quart in the UK is 40 fluid ounces - half an American pint larger than an American qusrt. Our gallons are bigger too.
But now we do everything the metric way so I should say that a 16 fluid ounces is 474 ml approx. Should we say half a litre (liter) for convenience!
