what's wrong with hereford buses.
i was stationed there (RAF Hereford, as was) for 6 months during 1990.
The buses were very frequent, very cheap, and very nice and comfy.
we were never moaned at for travelling between camp and town (pissed in either direction, no moans or complaints ever made)
I really enjoyed the buses and they were easy to find as they all went from the same place.

The point i'm making is that, the buses you rode back in 1990, are still in service, still with it's original upholstery... Do you see?
(I live in Credenhill btw) Back in 1990, the bus probably cost about 15p to travel from Credenhill to Hereford. It now costs £1 single fare.
Things change in ten years...

The buses however... do not...
If you doubt me, just ask a few more Herefordians who are on h2g2... You can find them on my homepage:
Mr Hazmandoo
Anxer
Poke-Raven
Or you could get in touch with them on ICQ or contact me on ICQ: 61460668
I can tell you just how bad it has gotten...

as i recall, a return to town from credenhill cost 65p in 1990.
(why can i hear the hovis advert music playing in my head?)
have the army taken over the camp now, that's what was SUPPOSED to happen. and do the feral cats still live on the unit, they used to keep us awake at night having very loud sex with each other. really annoying when you are in enforced celibacy.

*turns hovis theme off*
Yes, the SAS have moved into the RAF camp now (now known as Stirling Lines), and have taken the cats with their cats with them... The SAS moved in to make sure they could put up their to make sure that the can't (all very hush hush)
Stationed at RAF Hereford in 1990 ey?
I wonder if you knew a R.R Lawford stationed there from 1988-1992?
Just out of interest, my Dad ^ walked in and saw the post...

Hereford Bus system.... Speaking as a peron who spends 3 hours and
£4-20 at last count everyday, the Hereford Bus system is quite frankly a lump of lard... and should be Put down post haste, and replaced with something that actually looks and preforms like a bus service...

As a regular user of the bus system in Hereford I'd just like to say that its as good as, if not better than, systems in comparable towns elsewhere in the UK. Hereford is a one-horse town where nothing ever happens, but we have buses running up until well after 11pm every night and a reasonable Sunday service. Fares are reasonable - and much cheaper than in Worcester -even though its the same bus company. OK so the buses do run late in the rush hour. Maybe that's just something to do with all the one-person carrying cars that clog up the town. I can remember buses from 30 years ago. They had two decks, the driver sat in a little cabin next to the engine and another guy ran around inside collecting the fares - has anyone ever seen anything like that in Hereford recently? The only place in the UK that really has 30 year old buses of course is London - although there they are 40 years old!!
