Well it appears that the BROMELIAD (truckers, wings, etc...) has been bought up to make animated films out of.... And in usual BBC Online accuracy stylee the report is muddled enough to make you think that the BROMELIAD is part of the Discworld Opus - unless you know better.

Didn't Cosgrove hall animate a series of these for the Beeb in the first place? (FMIIW).

See: http://news.bbc.co.uk/hi/english/entertainment/arts/newsid_1306000/1306914.stm

The best bit of "accurate reporting" is this paragraph: Pratchett has written more than 30 novels about the likes of Corporal Carrot, Granny Weatherwax and Gaspode the Wonder Dog.

Unless of course he's written another 4+ that no-one knows about that is!smiley - grr

If the books were made into films, who would you like to see cast as the characters? Soem suggestions got thrown around at http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/F65097?thread=108298 to get you all started :)

I had DJ down as Dibbler as well, but he's a little more white-haired these days than Del-Boy used to be, so I suggested maybe Tony Robinson.

And I have Eric Idle stuck in my head as Rincewind, after playing the Discoworld PC game.

Kirk Douglas = Cohen the Barbarian

Christopher Lee or Alan Rickman = the Patrician (or aren't they dark enough?)

Dolph Lundgren = Carrot (complete with, ahem, 'Dwarvish' accent smiley - winkeye )

Prunella Scales = Granny Weatherwax

Miriam Margoyles = Nanny Ogg

That Cat From the Bacardi Adverts = Greebo smiley - winkeye

What would I have seen him in?
I vote for Alan Rickman...
Or Angus Daeyton.

Post 10

He was Disraeli in Mrs Brown, but is better known for his stage stuff, especially Shakespeare. Actually, he might even be Sir Anthony Sher now. He did an especially memorable Richard III. smiley - smiley

So who for the Librarian (apart from Ronnie Corbett that is!).. Maybe we could talk "Clyde" out of retirement?

How about the Burser?

And Ridcully = John Cleese

In the other forum Zalisander suggested Sean Connery for Ridcully.
John Cleese for me doesn't quite have the same down-to-earth presence as Connery.

The Bursar.... hmmm.....
