A Conversation for Peculiarities of the Danish Alphabet
Non standard computer characters.

Danish is not alone with this problem. The so-called English ASCII alphabet of 128 characters is really American and as such incorporates the $ sign but not the £ sign. When PCs were first introduced in the early 80s they printed # instead of £. This was very frustrating until someone made a lot of money by selling a utility which would ensure a proper £ sign was printed.
