Friday nights, Maidstone town centre.... The invariable bloodstains on the roads where someone picked a fight with someone who carried a switchblade... Girls getting hypothermia/carried home/assaulted. Sounds about right...

It's a pity you didn't mention small town alt clubs, which are just as weird, but then, I don't know if they exist anymore. 
They were the only ones I ever went to.
