Tahweed?

Quite a bad typo in the first paragraph there... obviously meant to be Tawheed (from Wahid, one, single) - Tahweed is to convert something or someone to Judaism. Probably not what the author had in mind!
And another thing, not rexactly a mistake really, but still: the article refers to Palestine in the bit about Abraham - since the Palestinians have not yet gained their independence it probably would be more correct to write Palestinian Authority.

very interesting to know the difference between a messenger and a prophet but if adam is the first prophet then who is his previous messenger?

What religion did Jesus promote? According to Christianity that is?

Yes your right, good eyes noticing it. I don't know if the editer will be able to change it now though.

Adam was both a prophet and messenger in sense, I think (not sure) that some of my meaning of the messenger and prophet was edited out. I'll explain how it works. A prophet is sent to God to reaffirm a previous messenger and so as such has no revelation like the Holy Qur'an or the Old testament. A messenger on the other hand is sent to reaffirm the previous message but is also given a revelation, because the old one may have been destroyed or been to badly currupted by man kind.

Well as far as Jesus goes, christians believe that he taught Christianity. Muslims believe that all the messengers and prophets taught the same message just tat over time they all got changed by man and given names, while Islam is the name given to what people refer as the Muslim religion, it is not really as such a name. The word Islam is derived from the Arabic word aslama and is actually a name of an action, in this case the action being, to submit or to surrender ones self, and as such Islam is taken to mean 'to submits oneself to God'.
Muslims believe that Jesus breached the New testament as it is called by Christians, but it was never recorded in his life time and believe his teachings where corrupted by Paul and has been continued to change since those times up to modern day.

Yes I know Jesus was a jew. Christians believe that he was not just a jew ut the son of God. An that what he preached was ment to follow on from the Jewish torah. Unfortunatly while the jews at that time and still are looking for a future messaiah like figure they did not see Jesus as it.
Besides which Jesus does not actually exist. If Jesus was about to him to day, hey its Jesus Christ, how you doing, Hw would most likely not have a clue who your talking to as for started Jesu's name was Esuha or Esure (notsure about the spelling) and in classial Hebrew he is called Esa, which are commen Jewish names of that time. There is no J in Hebrew so how they turned it intoJesus I do not know.
As for Christ that comes from Greek meaning 'The annoited one' and was shorted to this from the greek word Christos meaning 'to be annoited' and christos was translated from the Hebrew word Messiah which means 'to be annoited'.
Muslims believe that Jesus was sent to the Jews to reaffirm what was preached by Moses as the Jews had altered the original teachings.
Their is actually more in common beteen Islam and Judais that their is between Christianity and Islam.

What an interesting conversation - we've got a Christian, a Muslim and a Jew!
The Muslims, as far as I know from my Islam studies, see Jesus as one in a line of prophets leading to Muhammad (that's what Adib explained too).
The Jews see him as a false Messiah, basically. As far as they're concerned, he was this guy walking around disrupting the order (which he sorta was, actually).
His original name, Yeshu'a, is usually shortened in Hebrew to Yeshu, which some say was a common abbreviation at the time and others say is an acronym for 'Yimah Shemo VeZichro' (it works in Hebrew), which is a curse meaning something around the lines of 'may his name and memory be destroyed'.
I try to always say Yeshu'a. It seems more polite.

I'll stick to Jesus for three reasons:
1. No-one understands me anyway.
2. If I start writing Yesha'u or whatever it is in my RE exam I'm gonna loose some serious marks!
3. I cant even spell it right, let alone pronounce it.
In Muslim apocalypse doesn't Jesus tell the Christians to denounce christianity?

I'll let Adib answer about the apocalypse because I don't remember too much of that... I don't think Jesus is mentioned though, is he?

I haven't read any of the Qu'ran, I don't find it as flowing as much as the Bible (which hardly flows anyway) although that could just be me. But I found a website about the end of the world and read all the different religions views.
I have an idea for a new project....
See my journals.
