A Conversation for Beer Laws

I have a pet theory about why, despite much discussion on the subject, Britain's 11pm closing-time laws are still on the statute book.
It's simple, really. I think the Government will relax the law, but I think they'll wait a few months and do it shortly before the next General Election. Just imagine all those glasses being raised to Mr. Blair all over the land! Could there be a better vote-winner?

It's all getting pretty ridiculous now anyway - lots of town pubs have late licences, lots of people move on to a nightclub just to carry on drinking, and if you know the which the right country pubs are, you can happily drink till 1 or 2am as if the laws had never been introduced in the first place.

Incidentally the House of Commons has a total of 12 bars. Which when you consider some of the decisions things begin to make sense
